Nairobi história remonta a 1899 quando o depósito primeira ferrovia foi construída em um pântano Africano ocupado pelos Masaai, uma tribo nômade, e as pessoas Kikuyu. Em 1900 o local foi reconstruído devido a um surto de peste. Mais tarde, em 1907, Nairobi transformado em um centro comercial e se tornou a capital do Oriente África britânica, substituindo Mombaça. Nairobi floresceu sob o domínio britânico e também se tornou um lar para muitos britânicos. Em 1919, os britânicos declararam Nairobi como um município. Em 1921, Harry Thuku estabeleceu a Associação Jovem Kikuyu e começou a organizar protestos contra os ingleses. Harry Thuku foi preso em 14 de março de 1922. Houve uma greve geral por milhares de africanos em Nairobi e no governo britânico começou a disparar os protestantes. O Massacre chocou pessoas no mundo, junto com os britânicos.
